When I think of Single Sign On I think of security vs. swiftness. The image that comes to mind is my laptop though, if my laptop was open and running someone would be able to access all of my social media sites, email, almost all my digital information. Yet I am confident that the security systems I have in place on my laptop will prevent this from likely ever happening.
When it comes to SSO for our SIS, its the same story. Should we make it easy to access all of the information if you can get through tight security from the beginning? I think the answer is we do not have SSO for our student information systems. I contemplate the value of having to enter a password in one time vs. the value of extra security for our students information. I think the burden that we put on ourselves for a few simple keystrokes outweighs the burden that we could put on our students if their information was compromised.
