The three biggest learnings from this course:
1. The purpose of Enterprise Architecture.
It was not until the final project that I have a clear and in depth view of all the components of Enterprise Architecture. Enough where I am going to start making changes to my personal small business.
I have seen the purpose of EA and its uses. After studying GUHSD for over 5 months, I can now say that I have a map in my head of the projection of their growth for the next 5 years. I know gaps, strengths, areas of concern, all in all I am very knowledgeable about many aspects of their business services.
2. The amount of components that comprise a district.
There are so many aspects and pieces that comprise a school district. It is a large corporation that has so many different departments. The services provided range from transportation of students, to feeding students, to teaching them. Three simple things that have so many different aspects to them.
3. How much planning goes into sustainable growth.
Anyone can make a business grow. Making it grow in the long term and sustain that growth takes time, skill, talent, hard work, patience. Being able to plan out an EA plan for a district and then a two weeks before I finish have my suggestion of technology integration be announced and revamp the entire project showed me so much. I think that having the projection in place and then having it become a reality pushed me to find new ways to find growth and really showed me a new level of what can happen and where the district is going.
How this will serve me as a leader.
I am so much more prepare now to run a school or a district then I ever was before. This skill of being able to plan EA is going to follow me now for all my business future, in and out of education.
