Due to the fact that we are coming up on testing season I thought I would reflect on something associated with this theme.
A few months ago our district was getting ready for the state testing, we knew that the chromebooks we had need headphones so that some students could listen to the audio sections. The district decided to purchase a mass quantity of headphones for each school site, that were to be used for the next few years. The only problem was that the jack on the headphones was made for a stereo and would not be able to work with the chromebooks.
If the district or the executives would have just taken 30 minutes or less to look at the computer or devices they were using and then check to see what equipment they were buying and if it was compatible they could have saved a lot of money. Adaptors have to be bought so that the headphones could be used on the chromebooks. While the headphones are nice, asking the site leadership teams or other stakeholders about this would have resulted in much more success.
